Carboxymethyl-chitin (CMCh) is an anionic polysaccharide and a chemical modification of chitin that provides an alternative to improve the biopolymer’s water solubility. The chemical structure of CM-chitin, a natural polymer, is very close to that of mucopolysaccharides (heparin and hyaluronic acid), whose biological tolerance has been demonstrated for a long time. In addition, it is an efficient trapper of heavy metals that are responsible for very many contact allergies; therefore it is really interesting for skin allergies.
