Jones was born in Chicago, Illinois, to Rosemary Jones and Benjamin Reese. He was one of two biological children. With the hope of overcoming his heart disease, he enrolled in a Thoratec Heart Mate II Research Study, at Advocate Christ Hospital and Medical Center in Chicago. He lived a fairly normal life and had a normal daily routine. He was appointed president of the Jones Family Fund and became a Certified Food Service Manager through the Chicago Department of Public Health. He was an entrepreneur for Jones Family Catering.
