Nature of Discussions in an EFL Literature Class

Use of literature in foreign language teaching has been viewed as one of the traditional ways of teaching for centuries. Compared to its popularity, the research about the use of literature is quite limited. In this book, discursive structure of classroom talk has been analyzed both academically and socially to identify the nature of literary discussions. A foreign language literature class in Turkey was observed for one semester and qualitative analyses were conducted following a discourse analysis method. The findings of the study revealed mixed results. Possible reasons of the findings were explained with educational implications. This book aims to describe the nature of literary discussions in an EFL literature class in a Turkish university setting. It is intended for researchers who deal with qualitative analysis of classroom discourse, and studens and teachers who inquire about what is going on in an EFL literature class in terms of nature of dicourse and classroom dynamics.Похожие книги
