This book discusses how non-ionic surfactants alter interfacial properties promoting polycyclic aromatics hydrocarbons (PAHs) solubilization and dissolution from Non-Aqueous Phase Liquids (NAPLs) when applied alone or in combination with other remediation techniques such as the biodegradation. The effects of non-ionic surfactants observed on the kinetics of PAHs solubilization process, on the mechanisms that control the rates of solubilization and on the rates and extent of biodegradation are also discussed with emphasis on the molecular structure and concentration of the surfactants. An improved understanding and controlling the properties of non-ionic surfactant-containing solution has considerable practical importance and may lead to strategies for significantly enhancing remediation of contaminated sites when non-ionic surfactant is employed.Похожие книги
