Among them are the Nentsy, Evenks, Dolgans, Nganasans, Selkups, Chukchi, Koryaks and many others, totalling nearly a million people in all. The number of persons belonging to these ethnic groups may vary from several hundred to several hundred thousand." This was an official economic and social survey of the minorities of the region.
