The importance of a healthy diet for optimal health has become increasingly recognised over the past twenty years. More than ever, there is a need for well-qualified professionals with specialist knowledge in nutrition. This book reports on the first study in the UK which has considered the quality of postgraduate nutrition education and the extent to which students are prepared for employment. Qualitative data were collected using in- depth interviews from graduates, as well as employers of postgraduate nutritionists. Although overall the graduates and employers were satisfied with the standard of the courses, a number of issues are raised for further consideration. These include the academic level, contact time and assessment load of broad-based Masters Courses, determinants of success when seeking employment and the value of including work experience in Masters Programmes.
