It is widely accepted across the nations that community participation in education brings positive results. It has more logic and meaning in the case of marginalised community like scheduled tribes in India. In view of the recent Act- The Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009, involvement of community in school education is more essential. In this context, the book reviews policy initiatives on primary education with reference to scheduled tribes. An in-depth understanding on community participation is provided by presenting some of the initiatives by government and non-government actors. By presenting an overview of SSA, the study is made an attempt to assess the participation of scheduled tribe community in school related activities during the implementation of the programme.
