Human organizations are hierarchically complex systems with knowledge emerging in different forms at different structural levels within and beyond the system itself. Organizations need to respond quickly and rationally to ever changing social and physical landscapes. The ability for individuals and their organizations to access and assemble relevant knowledge in response to these changes is limited by capability and time constraints. Within the organization knowledge is embodied by individuals as "personal knowledge". Individual historical experiences extend beyond the organization through the individuals tacit knowledge networks. This book focuses on these crucial tacit knowledge networks and their impact via the individuals and their organizations as a whole.
